Winsome Words
“Order my steps in thy word: And let not any iniquity have dominion over me. Deliver me from the oppression of man: So will I keep thy precepts. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; And teach me thy statutes.” Psalm 119:133-135 KJV
Inspiration by the words of the Lord is simply the enthronement of God as the centre of our human instruction in life, family, career and relationships. There are so many religious activities in these days of manipulation by social media, economic standards, and the pressure of performance. Irrespective of our professional practices, the practical steps of most believers are ordered by social and economic standards and etiquettes. And when the psalmist prayed “Order my steps in thy word: And let not any iniquity have dominion over me‘, he was not alone by all practices today. The prayer is sincerely deeper than “Order my speeches in thy word…”. Many preachers can give sound speeches on holiness and righteousness; but they are denied the power of dominion over wickedness, lies and evil. Unfortunately, the real oppression of men in believers’ family, social and workplace lives is not the instrument of oppression; it is the influence of wayward words on our behavioural lifestyles. If we can always allow the winsome word of Christ to inspire our actions, inaction and daily relationships with the people in our lives, it will be only then we can truly exercise dominion over the circumstances of life.
