Faithful Followers
“ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. ” Matthew 7 : 24 - 25 KJV The reason why Jesus ended the sermon on the Mount with an illustration on faithful followers is because most people followers are mere hearers and not doers. A typical example of these unfaithful followers is the lost Lot in the Old Testament. They are categorized as fake followers, fruitless followers, and faulty followers, depending on the setting and circumstances; but the common denominator is simply the fact that they lack the tenacity for committing to the commandment of the Lord.
