Wise Works

“ They soon forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel, But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tested God in the desert. And He gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul. ”  Psalms 106 : 13 - 15 NKJV One of the major sources of backsliding in human history is not challenge management, but it is often wealth management. When Israel was in bondage and under heavy servitude of Pharaoh, she would cry unto the Lord and wait patiently for the works of the Lord. Unfortunately, disobedience, murmuring and rebellion followed the moment after deliverance from Egypt. Likewise, wilful works and unwise strategies for resource management do readily characterize moments of freedom in life. People would probably relate freely with the scriptural reality “ They soon forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel” . Whereas, the expected “ Wise Works ” are not “ Wilful Works ”,; but they consistently engage God and the understanding of His will in all ...

Lean Lifestyle

“ They soon forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel, But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tested God in the desert. And He gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul.” Psalms 106 : 13 - 15 NKJV It is not enough to define leanness as the opposite of generosity; it is also a gross demonstration of dissatisfaction, especially in the midst of abundance. Of course, money can only buy mansions, material properties, and affluence for the body; it cannot buy joy, love, and satisfaction for the soul. Whereas, even in the absence of this world’s material riches and wealth, the soul that is attracted to God’s rest and fellowship finds absolute satisfaction jus...

Request Refuge

“ They soon forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel, But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tested God in the desert. And He gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul. ” Psalms‬ ‭106‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Anyone who has ever struggled with the challenges of establishing relationships on the basis of trust and integrity can imagine the heartbeat of God in relationship with His people. The scriptures acknowledge it that when “ He saved them from the hand of him who hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. The waters covered their enemies; There was not one of them left. Then they believed His words; They sang His praise ” (Psalms‬ ‭106‬:‭10‬-‭12‬). And since the Israelites’ relationship with God was treated on the basis of a request-refuge , we can understand why it was difficult for their belief in God to stand the test of time. Likewise, when we relate with God on the basis of provision for our selfish request, rather than faith i...
