Holy Hope
“And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister” Colossians 1:21-23 KJV
When Apostle Paul alluded to the tragedy of miserable hope of some Christians elsewhere, believers are not left in doubt of the heavenly demand for holiness and righteousness from those who claim a reasonable relationship with God. Even today, unholy hopes pride themselves in the practice of Christianity with carelessness and compromises. Whereas, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in the body of his flesh through death is never in vain, and cannot be worthwhile with the slightest accommodation of wickedness, immorality, and ungodliness. Therefore, whenever believers also walk through the valley of the shadow of death in defence of their faith in Christ Jesus, they are made to be grounded and settled in holy hope of their redemption from the corruption of this world. And to the Colossians, Apostle Paul was proud to present himself as an example of minister of God, who understood the preciousness of holy hope; as against the unholy hope of charlatan or pseudo-Christians.
