However, a wise leader must be able to balance the demand for self-searching and the responsibility attached to being status-sensitive. It is always easier for a leader to be fully engrossed with the responsibility of gleaning the pages of the scriptures for lessons to teach others, while blotting out the demand of heaven on self’s insensitivity to the word of God. (Romans 2:21 NKJV) Selfishness is a natural trait of the heart of man, but it is scarcely deplored for moral mentoring. It is always easier to care for the moral needs of others, at the utmost neglect of the moral decadence of self. An untaught professor of moral science can be versed with letters, while his words is void of life-transforming message. Except a heart-cry for mercy in moral aptitude is conscious, the best mentoring effort can only boost of one hypocrite - the teacher. Therefore, effective moral mentoring starts with generous self modelling.
