The heart is a chessboard where either a delightful deal or a defiling thought is played. That’s why Christ told the disciples elsewhere “ But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man (Matthew 15 : 18 )”.   “Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death;” Psalms‬ ‭13‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Sleep is a gift from God for human rest, relaxation, and restoration of strength. But the psalmist declares that the gift in some sleep can be turned upside down into the realm of stupidity. The enemies or thieves often induced stupid sleep into their victims to create a window of least resistance, while embarking on their wicked operations. Therefore, the psalmist cried out to God “ Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes ”. Jesus is God’s special Gift to humanity to deliver the soul from stupid sleep, induced by our entanglement with sin. When He said “ I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” , it implies that anyone who has received the gift of salvation from Him can find the Way, follow the Truth, and be filled with Life from heaven on a daily basis. Besides a self-proclaimed testimony, people can clearly observe the manifestation of God’s glory in the testifier’s affairs, career, home, and relationships. The problem though is that these manifestations may not be deep and can be negatively influenced by human manipulation. Deep manifestation of God’s faithfulness operates from the heart and not just the head. Even when the head of the psalmist has openly complained about its challenges and disappointment, the heart could still rejoice in God’s salvation. King David is believed to appreciate the privilege of wealth and position in the management of his public affairs. ‎However, he was equally privileged to experience persecution and oppression from the enemy. Real life experiences clearly underscore the insecurity in physical salvation. Whereas, spiritual salvation brings inner peace that escape the pang of insecurity.
