Witted Wrestling

  “Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭32:24-25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Jacob has been a professional wrestler from the womb. And like many professional and competitive struggles for family, career, business, and ministerial breakthrough in life, Jacob as had a full resume of wrestling with people in his life, including Esau and Laban. But for the privileged few who have discovered the space where man must be left alone with God, they understand why Jacob was here left alone to engage in a witted wrestling. Previously, Jacob had learnt only how to struggle for carnal prospecting, possessions and prosperity; and he got more than enough of earthly materials without the confidence to appease Esau; needless to mention the much-desirable reconciliation with God.
