Love Life

“ Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.” Deuteronomy 11 : 1 KJV Polyamory is a practice or support of romantic or sexual relationships with more than one partner; and the consequences of its conflict of interest are clear, despite the system’s forced compliance to the merit of diversity. And since love is the major ingredient on the long life menu, “ Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments“ will not be relevant without the emphasis on “ always ”. Those who practice religion can relate with the concept of polyamory in their affairs with different affections. However, depending on moods and dispositions, obedience to the commandments of the Lord is not always straightforward. Unfortunately, the consequences of this disposition is the lack of integrity, honesty, trust, and unity in our homes, societies, an...

Faith Freight

“ But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. ” Luke 12 : 31 - 32 KJV The pursuit of comfort, care and life’s basic needs is a freight with heavy toll for anyone in this world; and the key to operating the freight can either be fear or faith. Fear when we consider the freight under the control of the world’s super powers; and faith when we believe in the promises of God. When Jesus addressed the concerned listeners to his sermon on the mount with the option of taking the faith freight “ But rather seek ye the kingdom of God“ , He didn’t totally undermine the negative influence of the fear freight. His acknowledgment of the power of those who can kill the body but have no more thereafter to do underscores the cause of fear, worry, and anxiety in our world. By His “ But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath pow...

Love Light

“ Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness .” Luke 11 : 35 KJV The adage that say “ The more you look, the less you see ” acknowledges the human ‘look light ’ endowment. Advances in human skill, education, and  experience create more avenues for criticism and confrontation. Sometimes, the ‘look light ’ in us makes believers or members of the same family, fellowship, and foundation to constitute the network of bitterness and betrayal in our households, societies and workplaces. When we are satisfied with the “ Take heed therefore ….” unto your personal needs, we are often blinded from the call to “ Take heed therefore… ” unto other people’s needs. For example, when parents correct and discipline a child for a satisfaction of their status and competence rather than love, the child is usually lost to the world’s system of indiscipline, indifference and iniquities. Whereas, love light is the little light that Christ admonished all His disciples to le...

Finding Favour

“ Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, And shall obtain favour of the LORD .” Proverbs 8 : 34 - 35 KJV God is not just the supplier of fair favour, He is favour personified. While the different expressions of favour embrace all of life’s desires, including wife, breakthroughs (finance, profession, career, business, etc), and good health, it is always foolhardy for anyone to trade the exact favour for the expression of it. Unfortunately, the heart of man is usually confined to the path of foolishness, unless he is rescued. He would rather prefer the chase of the idols in money, wealth, position, and privileges, instead of pursuing God. Little wonder God admonished Joshua the son of Nun on the principle of success to keep a daily tab on the book of the law, and meditate on its pages every morning and night towards finding favour. This is literally the implication of “ Blessed is the ma...

Fair Favour

“ But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, And raise me up, that I may requite them. By this I know that thou favourest me, Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, And settest me before thy face for ever.” Psalm 41 : 10 - 12 KJV The context that supports the unfairness of God’s favour surely has its point. The righteous often suffer indiscriminately in the hands of wicked people and principalities; and God is believed to provide the enabling and extensive environment for this unfairness. And the right context of favour to the righteous in most circumstances is the unidirectional distribution of the mercy of God. Whereas, the fair favour of God looks both ways. Both the righteous and his enemies need the mercy of God, in terms of comfort and compassion respectively. When the enemies strike the righteous recklessly and relentlessly without triumphing over him, they get the fair favour of God calling them to repentance. On th...

Nothing Name

“ And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven .” Luke 10 : 17 - 20 KJV Jesus and Satan are two opposing names that command the attention of different sets of people on earth. While believers in Jesus by principle know and declare the authority in the name of Jesus, many of these people in practice cannot relate to the nothingness in Satan and all his agents. And if Jesus can rejoice in the spirit at the revelation of the nothing name to disciples, after their field experience “ saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name ”, it implies that heaven i...

Matchless Mercy

“ But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; Make no tarrying, O my God .” Psalm 40 : 17 KJV The story of Good Friday is simply a wrap of the matchless mercy and love of God. Jesus knew the miserable state of mankind’s depravity and wretchedness, yet He paid the full price for the flow of God’s mercy. Even today, the psalmist’s reflection on “ But I am poor and needy ” is ever potent for those who must approach the cross for forgiveness and salvation. Just like the slayer who runs out of the city of refuge into the hands of the avenger of blood forfeited the avalanche of mercy from the high priest, those who think of matching the mercy of God with their skills and intelligence are pitiable losers. And people who think more of what they must pay to earn the mercy of God are usually prevented from reaping the benefits of grace that have appeared to all men. When the arrogance of status creeps in, it is often considered an overpric...
