Pillar Pillow

“ And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people .” Exodus 13 : 21 - 22 KJV Expectedly, if the presence of the LORD in the midst of His people is practiced as a pillow, the journey through the wilderness will have attracted great calm and not chaos. The pillar of a cloud would have readily and relaxingly led them through the way in the day; and the pillar of fire will take the shift in the night. But no, the activities of caterpillars are always louder in the ears of the people than the assurances of pillars. Whereas, the essence of pillows is rest and not restiveness. The moment the Lord gives out His words and shows the evidence of His presence in the affairs of His people, there is always no need to ever get agitated by the activities of caterpillars. More oft...

Mightier Mercy

“ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; And in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! For the king trusteth in the LORD, And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved .” Psalm 21 : 1 , 7 KJV Giving the authority and dominion of kings, those who trust in a king are protected from commoners’ harassment. Notwithstanding, the strength of any king is measured by the size of its ammunition and military might. It does imply that mercy from any king is limited. For example, those who trust in the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, in pursuit of the advancing children of Israel out of Egypt suffered suffocation and death in the Red Sea. Therefore, when the psalmist and a king in Israel said “ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD “, he acknowledged the mightier mercy of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Trust in the mightier mercy promised by the Lord always starts with the acknowledgment of our inadequacies and shortcomings. It is ...

Saving Strength

“ Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; He will hear him from his holy heaven With the saving strength of his right hand. Save, LORD: Let the king hear us when we call. ” Psalm 20 : 6 , 9 KJV The reality of misrepresentation on the place of godliness with suffering and its correlation with the Lord’s saving strength is common to all believers. When the scriptures say all that must live godly in Christ or enjoy the salvation experience must blend the experience with suffering, many believers readily get lost in the essence of the almighty strength from God. For example, it does appears God’s anointing on David brought his wilderness experiences, rather than serve the expected winning experience in the palace. Likewise, in most of every believer’s exposures and engagements, we can attest to the affluence of the people’s financial strength, the authority of the people’s political strength, the atrocity of the people’s administrative strength, and the arrogance of the peopl...

Winsome Word

“ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: And in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults.” Psalm 19 : 7 , 11 - 12 KJV The BIBLE (Blessed Instruction Bringing Life Eternal) is ever precious to those who have found a perfect guide to everlasting life in its instructions. Obviously, the foundation of the blessed instruction is riveted in the conversion of souls from sin, stubbornness and stiff-neckedness. Otherwise, people are always prone to remain defensive of their ideology and self-will, even when the evidence of judgment and destruction for disobedience is stirring them in their faces. For example, who would have expected Pharaoh to perish in the Red Sea amidst the myriads of warnings, repeated instructions with punishments for disobedience, and intermittent judgments? The deceitfulness of temporal ri...

Wise Way

“I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; And when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. But the path of the just is as the shining light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.” Proverbs 4 : 11 - 12 , 18 - 19 KJV Just as the way to ‘Let my people go ’ is unknown to Pharaoh, the narrow way is a strange narrative of a wise way to our world of artificial intelligence, social networking, and natural sophistication. Those who are exclusively taught by sciences, philosophy and psychology cannot see wisdom in the way of the cross. Notwithstanding, the Father is always standing at the door of our hearts saying “ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths ”. Unfortunately, even those who claim to have established relationships with the Lord by salvation and the remission of their sins still...

Precious Purpose

“..there came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.” Matthew 26 : 7 - 8 , 13 KJV The story and action of the woman with the alabaster box of very precious ointment teach the importance of divine inspiration towards positive engagement in life. Unfortunately, even the disciples with their closer privileges and revelation about the season could only see a waste in the woman’s engagement. It implies that purposes laced with pleasure and profit-making are usually at tangent with the plan of God. More often than not, precious purposes are borne out of believers’ moment of pain and persecution. For example, the affliction of the children of Israel in the...

Clear Confidence

“I know that thou canst do every thing, And that no thought can be withholden from thee. Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? Therefore have I uttered that I understood not; Things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.” Job 42 : 2 - 3 KJV  The admonition “ Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward ( Hebrews 10 : 35 )” underscores the reality of falling into confused confidence in believer’s days of adversities. In the advent of satanic manipulations and prolonged suffering, it is common for believers to replace their confidence in God with frustrations, even by the example of a limited exposure of Job. But after the restoration of his clear confidence in God, Job said “I know that thou canst do every thing, And that no thought can be withholden from thee ”. Obviously, frustration and emotional outbursts are dividends of a confused confidence in our personal abilities and the perceived capabilities of trusted systems of p...
