God’s Good

“ Trust in the LORD, and do good; So shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; Trust also in him; And he shall bring it to pass. ” Psalm 37 : 3 - 5 KJV The major difference between the concept of ‘God is good ’ and ‘God’s good’ appears to be riveted on trust. Godliness is built on every believer’s relationship with God. Those who practice religion instead of relationship can rhetorically echo ‘God is good’, but can hardly submit themselves to the same God to make them good as Himself. Whereas, God is not just good; those who truly trust in God are His goods. Unfortunately, people are motivated into the practice of evil and wickedness because they trust either in themselves or in other people, instead of trusting absolutely in the LORD. Whereas, the best of goodness that the heart of man or other fellows can supply is mostly destructive to himself in t...

Spirit Services

“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord .” Luke 4 : 18 - 19 KJV One of the beauties of spirit-inspired sent-forth services is the recognition of believers’ (1)  sensitivity to the spirit rather than self - Acts 13:2-4; (2) extravagant excellence of the eternal Emperor - Psalms 36:7; (3) nomination for the naming of new nature - Luke 4:18-19; and the (4) transparent transmission of the gospel of Truth - Luke 4:32, 36. Whereas, all self services are simply motivated by an outright disbelief in the existence and excellence of God. Even when a service assignment is started in the spirit, the heart’s recognition of the relevance of man above God can readily divert and destroy the original purpose of God. For example, the...

Lonely Lifestyle

“ And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke 4 : 3 - 4 KJV One of the fundamental lessons on how to resist temptation as taught by the Master Jesus Christ is the appreciation of loneliness. Beyond the lustful company with bread to arrest hunger, Satan apparently loathed or detested the satisfaction of Jesus with the word of God. Socialization and companionship with people are good, only if accommodated to sustain believers’ fellowship with God. Unfortunately, the basic source of temptation comes from the place of our preferences for bread or any means of socialization and companionship that can guarantee ceaseless production of bread. When Moses got angered by the people’s murmuring for meat in the wilderness, it wasn’t from the place of their sin against God…but rather from his personal dissatisfaction fo...

Faithful Followers

“ And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel. And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred. And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes. And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee. ” Numbers 10 : 29 - 32 KJV From the benefits of hindsight, we know that Hobab believed the testimony “ for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel” and followed faithfully. It just shows that good goings in life begat goodness gaining; while greedy goings begat grief gaining. Unfortunately, good goings are not the same as good starts. Many of the Israelites ...

Father’s Favour

“ And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. ” Luke 2 : 49 , 52 KJV The concept of godfatherism is so twisted today that people can rarely believe it is scriptural. Yes, the concept of godfatherism applied to Jesus because He had favour with man (the ‘godfather’), howbeit after securing favour with God the Father. Unfortunately, the problem with the twist today is that people often opt only for godfather’s favour at the expense of the Father’s favour. Whether in politics, business, and social relationships, the business of godfathers (at the expense of the Father’s business) is dishonesty, disobedience, and diplomacy. And the moment a believer demands a simple bailout from the godfather’s business, all red carpets are expected to be pulled. But the right answer from all godfathers to the sober question “ How is it that ye sought me? wist ye ...

Bone Bond

“ All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, Yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?”   Psalm 35 : 10 KJV One primary objective of bullying is bone banging. The bones of the oppressed, the afflicted, and the persecuted are expected to bang,  break, and burst out with excruciating pain, sighing for relief helplessly. Such was the experience of the psalmist when David lost the fellowship with Jonathan to resume his wilderness experience and access the spoilage under the banging of king Saul. But instead of bone bang, David experienced bone bond with the Saviour, the Almighty God. Oftentimes, God allowed the activities of bullies for the benefits of every believer’s bone bond with Himself, if he pays attention to the lyrics. For example, Joseph sang the lyrics ‘who is like unto thee?’ to the Lord in the prison before his promotion to be the prime minister of Egypt; Daniel sang the l...

Rewarding Returns

“ And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.”   Luke 2 : 15 , 20 KJV Life is made of several trips, with each of these trips demanding  a rewarding return, either short-term or long-term. The trip to Bethlehem by the Shepherds to confirm the birth of baby Jesus was one with a difference: “ And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them ”. Unfortunately, real life experiences of many real people are a compilation of unrewarding expenditures and regretful returns. For example, failed business initiatives, failed marriages, failed relationships, and failed recruitment exercises are ...
