Father’s Favour

“ And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. ” Luke 2 : 49 , 52 KJV The concept of godfatherism is so twisted today that people can rarely believe it is scriptural. Yes, the concept of godfatherism applied to Jesus because He had favour with man (the ‘godfather’), howbeit after securing favour with God the Father. Unfortunately, the problem with the twist today is that people often opt only for godfather’s favour at the expense of the Father’s favour. Whether in politics, business, and social relationships, the business of godfathers (at the expense of the Father’s business) is dishonesty, disobedience, and diplomacy. And the moment a believer demands a simple bailout from the godfather’s business, all red carpets are expected to be pulled. But the right answer from all godfathers to the sober question “ How is it that ye sought me? wist ye ...

Bone Bond

“ All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, Yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?”   Psalm 35 : 10 KJV One primary objective of bullying is bone banging. The bones of the oppressed, the afflicted, and the persecuted are expected to bang,  break, and burst out with excruciating pain, sighing for relief helplessly. Such was the experience of the psalmist when David lost the fellowship with Jonathan to resume his wilderness experience and access the spoilage under the banging of king Saul. But instead of bone bang, David experienced bone bond with the Saviour, the Almighty God. Oftentimes, God allowed the activities of bullies for the benefits of every believer’s bone bond with Himself, if he pays attention to the lyrics. For example, Joseph sang the lyrics ‘who is like unto thee?’ to the Lord in the prison before his promotion to be the prime minister of Egypt; Daniel sang the l...

Rewarding Returns

“ And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.”   Luke 2 : 15 , 20 KJV Life is made of several trips, with each of these trips demanding  a rewarding return, either short-term or long-term. The trip to Bethlehem by the Shepherds to confirm the birth of baby Jesus was one with a difference: “ And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them ”. Unfortunately, real life experiences of many real people are a compilation of unrewarding expenditures and regretful returns. For example, failed business initiatives, failed marriages, failed relationships, and failed recruitment exercises are ...

Blessed Brokenness

“ The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. He keepeth all his bones: Not one of them is broken.” Psalm 34 : 18 , 20 KJV Broken hearts and broken bones are not the same. While the psalmist referred to the former as blessed, the latter is cursed and preventable by the righteous. Unfortunately, those who skip the path of blessed brokenness are readily taunted with progress, promotion, and prosperity from the coven of covetousness, greed, and all forms of unrighteousness. And just as the scriptures posited,  it is impossible for anyone to opt for sourness to reap blessedness: “ What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? (Ezekiel 18 : 2 )”. Therefore, the only escape route to blessedness in life is the attainment of a broken heart and contrite spirit. Oftentimes, the righteous is reasonably confused about the...

Lifted LORD

“ O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: And their faces were not ashamed. ”  Psalm 34 : 3 - 5 KJV Deliverance is simply a lightened look unto a lifted LORD. Meanwhile, the life of a natural man is readily shackled with a deceitful look unto lost lord. The Devil has been a master and lord of all deceits from the beginning; and all his promises of sweetness have always been a shackle of sorrow and sadness. Whereas,  a look at the lifted LORD represents a single wrap of deliverance and holiness, according to Obadiah 1:17 ““ But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions” . Those who take the step of faith into the presence of the Lord are readily delivered from the PRISON, including (1) persecution - for example, the lifted LORD delivered Shadrach, Messac...

Superior Surveillance

“ Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; And the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. ” Psalm 33 : 12 - 14 KJV Without prejudice on claims and counterclaims on justification for attacks, the ongoing Iran-Israel-US war can be seen as a test of superiority among the world’s superpowers. These world’s superpowers are readily built on the accumulation of war machines and sophistication on surveillance. Even in life’s personal battles at home, workplaces and in society, superiority of surveillance, intelligent gathering of information, and strategic planting of moles are the best available ways of this world’s dominance. Unfortunately, the best of these human strategies often undermines the transcendence and immanence of God in relationships with those who put their trust in Him. When the psalmist declares “ Blessed i...

Right Reign

“ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. ” Luke 1 : 6 KJV History has shown that those who limit reigning to the possession of power, privileges and authority have always ended up being reigned over (or being ruined) by their possessions. For example, Pharaoh possessed the land of Egypt and the regulation of all its activities; but he ended up being reigned over by a sunset of these possessions - the Red Sea. Prior to this destructive end, many of Pharaoh’s subjects have had a wrong conception of the right reign in their relationships with Pharaoh. And by supposing “ And they were both right before Pharaoh, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of their lord blameless ” was the perfect definition of loyalty or uprightness, they ended up in the same Red Sea with Pharaoh. Whereas, the service lifestyle of Zechariah and Elizabeth has rather posited that right reign implies righteousness before God; no...
