Contrite Conscience

“ My son, attend unto my wisdom, And bow thine ear to my understanding: That thou mayest regard discretion, And that thy lips may keep knowledge. ” Proverbs 5 : 1 - 2 KJV The Father’s wise admonition to His son “ My son, attend unto my wisdom “ suggests the acknowledgement of weird wisdom in the world. While the weird wisdom of this world is shrouded in wickedness, iniquity, selfishness, deception, obstinacy, and manipulation, the wise wisdom from the Father of light is unmistakably filled with watchfulness, integrity, selflessness, discretion, obedience, and meekness. Unfortunately, life’s daily practices, professionalism, partnership, and profiling exposes the hearts of man to this weird wisdom to the extent that it is almost impossible for anyone to escape side distractions. Notwithstanding, “ My son, attend unto my wisdom“ remains the only key to holding onto a contrite conscience in this polluted world. It simply takes an intentional watchfulness, integrity, selflessness, ...

Wisest Will

“ And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. ” Mark 1 : 40 - 42 KJV Life is a product of human choices and the combination of will. In another word, the decision of a man determines his destiny. For example, everyone’s personal will determines his commitment, collaboration, and community. And like the leper that came to Jesus Christ for compassion, several alternatives from his personal will could have led him to physicians for community, his friends and families for their collaborations, and an intense research and commitment into selfhelp options. But, “ And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me cl...

Delightful Drive

“ and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.” Mark 1 : 11 - 12 KJV Life’s resume and memoirs are often described by events, activities and engagements, leaving out the motivation behind these actions. As long as these actions find us in desirable places of affluence, authorities, and attractions, almost nobody cares. Unfortunately, desirable drives in human considerations are usually tangential to the delightful drive in the sight of God. For example, no human consideration will opt for a drive into the wilderness; but it was the delight of the Spirit to lead Jesus Christ into the wilderness to initiate a ministry filled with absolute submission to the Will of God. Likewise, many people or scriptural references who led a pleasing ministry have demonstrated that a delightful drive is almost synonymous to initiation by wilderness experience. Therefore, it is importan...

Truth Thrust

“ And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.” Matthew 28 : 8 - 10 KJV While the intended thrust of truth is freedom and not fear, the resurrection story of Jesus Christ brought the strange dynamics of fear and great joy down the spine of the women who were at the sepulchre for a repression story. Obviously, fear is evidence of lack of faith. Faith in the promises of God is bolstered by every believer’s encounter with truth. “ Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me ” is the fundamental truth thrust in our journey of faith. It implies that until we are confident to live daily to s...

Pillar Pillow

“ And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people .” Exodus 13 : 21 - 22 KJV Expectedly, if the presence of the LORD in the midst of His people is practiced as a pillow, the journey through the wilderness will have attracted great calm and not chaos. The pillar of a cloud would have readily and relaxingly led them through the way in the day; and the pillar of fire will take the shift in the night. But no, the activities of caterpillars are always louder in the ears of the people than the assurances of pillars. Whereas, the essence of pillows is rest and not restiveness. The moment the Lord gives out His words and shows the evidence of His presence in the affairs of His people, there is always no need to ever get agitated by the activities of caterpillars. More oft...

Mightier Mercy

“ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; And in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! For the king trusteth in the LORD, And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved .” Psalm 21 : 1 , 7 KJV Giving the authority and dominion of kings, those who trust in a king are protected from commoners’ harassment. Notwithstanding, the strength of any king is measured by the size of its ammunition and military might. It does imply that mercy from any king is limited. For example, those who trust in the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, in pursuit of the advancing children of Israel out of Egypt suffered suffocation and death in the Red Sea. Therefore, when the psalmist and a king in Israel said “ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD “, he acknowledged the mightier mercy of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Trust in the mightier mercy promised by the Lord always starts with the acknowledgment of our inadequacies and shortcomings. It is ...

Saving Strength

“ Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; He will hear him from his holy heaven With the saving strength of his right hand. Save, LORD: Let the king hear us when we call. ” Psalm 20 : 6 , 9 KJV The reality of misrepresentation on the place of godliness with suffering and its correlation with the Lord’s saving strength is common to all believers. When the scriptures say all that must live godly in Christ or enjoy the salvation experience must blend the experience with suffering, many believers readily get lost in the essence of the almighty strength from God. For example, it does appears God’s anointing on David brought his wilderness experiences, rather than serve the expected winning experience in the palace. Likewise, in most of every believer’s exposures and engagements, we can attest to the affluence of the people’s financial strength, the authority of the people’s political strength, the atrocity of the people’s administrative strength, and the arrogance of the peopl...
