I have also trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip.” Psalms‬ ‭26‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ There is no doubt that the eyes of the whole world are fixated on the most populous black nation, as it kickstarted the 2023 presidential and senatorial elections yesterday. Everyone appears to be tired of the previous running of the state affairs on a slippery structure of corruption, and unrighteousness - a structure where religion is loud but righteousness and integrity are very low. How many of our religious leaders can be vindicated by the Lord on His incorruptible scale of integrity? And like the psalmist cried out, it is time for the saints all over the world to cry out for deliverance from slippery structure; and the establishment of a sincere structure, where the people of integrity and uprightness are given the mandate to lead the people. The prayer of the Psalmist reveals the insufficiency of self-examination.‎ If good intentions had been sufficient, the desire for godly investigation would have been unnecessary. The heart of any good man can play good whenever it is goodly-conditioned. But no good man can accurately predict the response of his heart, prior to its examination in trying times. For example, a good heart understands the value of humility; but it is not necessarily a humble heart, until it is proven with humiliation. The song of trust and obedience to God is appreciated by a good heart in times of great supply; but only a faithful heart can be patient with God in times of unpleasant deprivation. Whereas, the interest of divine investigation is not the provocation of a good heart. Actually, divine investigation helps with the preservation of purity in the heart.‎
