Firm Focus

  “I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16:7-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Although the saying is always true that ‘if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for everything’ , the sustainability of all stands depend on the strength of the something under focus. Like with the experience of the psalmist, those who are familiar with the travesty in the night seasons of life understand the failure of standing for something else other than God. The night seasons of life are capable of displacing solid convictions, destabilizing stable careers, and destroying steadfast consecration. Soft Song

  “But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭13:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Lyrics through the head knowledge of God’s manifestation in the affairs of the people are not difficult to sing loudly. Besides a self-proclaimed testimony, people can clearly observe the manifestation of God’s glory in the testifier’s affairs, career, home, and relationships. The problem though is that these manifestations may not be deep and can be negatively influenced by human manipulation. Deep manifestation of God’s faithfulness operates from the heart and not just the head. Even when the head of the psalmist has openly complained about its challenges and disappointment, the heart could still rejoice in God’s salvation.
