  “ The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. ” Psalms 23 : 1 NKJV Believer’s roam, ruin, and rumbling in the world show the need of making more than a rhyme out of Psalms 23. The enemy knows that we often believe in the wantonness of wanting than in the sufficiency of our Shepherd. Gripped by the fear of the wantonness of wanting, believers would readily carry their birthright on righteousness, truth, and confidence in God to pawn shops. Whereas, even demons and familiar spirits will see Jesus approaching and cry out with loud voices “ What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me ( Mark 5 : 7 NKJV )”. Therefore, why do we always agree to be tormented by the wantonness of wanting, given the sufficiency of our Shepherd?   “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms‬ ‭23‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ The evidence of the Lord  becoming believer’s Shepherd and Sufficiency is found, not when he is surrounded with pleasantries in people, places, and purpose; but rather when he walks through the fear simulator, like the valley of the shadow of death. Since the singular purpose of fear is the depletion of faith in the sufficiency of God in a believer's life, it is only a focus on what God is doing with all the instruments of fear that saves believers from the purpose of the enemy. And like Job defeated the purpose of the enemy by staying with God, in times of his walking through the valley of the shadow of death, we can see why and what the psalmist declares and means by “ The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalms‬ ‭23‬:‭1‬). Those who are fortunate to have all their senses soundly working and unimpaired may be ignorant of the importance of a guiding rod. ‎For a sheep under the guidance of a Shepherd, physical soundness cannot guarantee profitable guidance, either to the path of green pasture, or away from every plot of great perdition. A stroke from the Shepherd's guiding rod is often hard on the flesh; but the understanding of its goodness is always the source of great comfort. Unfortunately, no sheep can appreciate the Lord's guiding rod, until the Lord is acknowledged as the Shepherd. ‎
