The free spirit embodies the inspiration of the Most High and ability to operate in the realm of the supernatural. Whenever a believer is privileged to escape mechanical rendering of activities or services and carnal engagement with people, he literally becomes the battle axe and a weapon of war in the mighty hands of the Creator of heaven and earth. Therefore, “ Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit” plea goes beyond grace for salvation unto gift for service for kingdom expansion.   “ Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.” Psalms 51 : 10 - 11 NKJV The psalmist’s confession or prayer that made a reference to a steadfast spirit confirmed the fundamental consequence of the fall of man. When God commanded and declared to Adam and Eve “ but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die (Genesis 2 : 17 )”, it merely meant that the major depravity of sin is the loss of the steadfast spirit. More than the loss of the privilege of physical fellowship with God in the garden of Eden, the loss of the presence of God and His steadfast spirit in the heart of any man is spiritual death.   “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ The conquering spirit must be free of impediments in order to remain steadfast. For king David, the impediment was adultery and murder that blocked his access into the presence of the Lord. And for many other people, the impediments have various shades and turns, including unforgiving spirits, evil speaking, and unrighteous thoughts. Once the channels that connect the flow of the Holy Spirit and inspiration from the throne of grace to the hearts of man are blocked, ideas ceased and motivation for uprightness becomes stagnated. Therefore, the psalmist’s cry is genuine “ Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me” . Even when the hands and legs are restricted, a steadfast spirit remains the window of the mind for the consistent flow of heavenly vision and divine engagement for the glorious manifestation.
