Enemies’ Entertainment

“ I have found David my servant; With my holy oil have I anointed him: With whom my hand shall be established: Mine arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not exact upon him; Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.” Psalm 89 : 20 - 22 KJV Since Merriam Webster dictionary defines ‘exact’ as ‘to call for forcibly or urgently and obtain’ , it implies that the opposite of ‘ to exact’ can be ‘to entertain ’.  From the benefits of hindsight, all the activities of king Saul against the anointing of David can be simply categorized as part of enemies’ entertainment. Yet, at one point in David’s wilderness experience, the enemies’ entertainment was misappropriated as enemies’ exactness: “ And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.” ( 1...

Best Beat

“I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him, I will beat down his foes before his face, And plague those who hate him.” Psalms 89 : 20 , 23 NKJV From times immemorial, God’s calling has never been cheap. Casually, anyone can readily say that what David’s anointing oil attracted into his life, at his calling, was wilderness experience, with affliction and persecution. Notwithstanding, the testimony of God’s best beat stands out, testifying “ I will beat down his foes before his face, And plague those who hate him ”. And while it is always true that God has the best beat, we are often discouraged and devastated by human’s bitter beat…forgetting the fact “ For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable (Romans 11 : 29 )”. The bitter beat of this world can and will always threaten the worst of loneliness, loss, and limitations; but these are definitely incomparable to the love of the Lord and His lifting at the end of the race. When the troubled Apos...

Holy Help

“Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, And said: “I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him”” Psalms‬ ‭89‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ When the scriptures say, with respect to help from God, “ I have given help to one who is mighty ”, it suggests that God’s holy help is reserved for those who are willing to show their might in the face of troubles. After David was anointed with God’s holy oil, he began to show God’s might by facing Goliath, enemies within, and enemies without; but in all through these troubles, the presence of God provides guidance and preservation. Therefore, holy help does not, most times, make troubles go away; but rather, it sometimes appears God’s holy help invokes troubles before the good begins to come. Now, the bigger picture of sowing the seed of grace, godliness, and righteousness in the face of troubles and the challenges of life is the major essen...
