Father’s Favour

“ And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. ” Luke 2 : 49 , 52 KJV The concept of godfatherism is so twisted today that people can rarely believe it is scriptural. Yes, the concept of godfatherism applied to Jesus because He had favour with man (the ‘godfather’), howbeit after securing favour with God the Father. Unfortunately, the problem with the twist today is that people often opt only for godfather’s favour at the expense of the Father’s favour. Whether in politics, business, and social relationships, the business of godfathers (at the expense of the Father’s business) is dishonesty, disobedience, and diplomacy. And the moment a believer demands a simple bailout from the godfather’s business, all red carpets are expected to be pulled. But the right answer from all godfathers to the sober question “ How is it that ye sought me? wist ye ...

Solemn Search

“ So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business? ”” Luke 2 : 48 - 49 NKJV Without prejudice to the sincerity of care in the question “ Son, why have You done this to us? “, the response from the Boy Jesus with another question “ Why did you seek Me? “opens up the difference between the common principle of selfish search in human endeavour and the burden in a desirable solemn search. For example, mothers are naturally obsessed with an instinct to possess their children and often struggle with the true reality that these children are the heritage of the Lord. While Mary was expected to be more informed that Jesus is the Son of God than Joseph, “ Son, why have You done this to us? ” was a polite way of refusing the obvious. Likewise, the human search in all pursuits throug...

Best Business

” And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them. “ Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭49‬-‭50‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ It is important to note the Boy Jesus’ question “ Why did you seek Me? “ didn’t query the parenting skills of Joseph and Mary. The question was just a reawakening of all concerned hearts to the best business engagement on earth, which is the business of our heavenly Father. While life beckons the rush into career progression, professional engagement, social relationships and responsibilities, including advances in ministerial opportunities, the business of our Heavenly Father in all these engagements is central. Unfortunately, it is always possible to be busy and seemingly productive with life and all its callings; and still completely lose sight of the purpose for living. Whereas, as we initiate an intimate relationship with the Heavenly Father, we get the chance to reflect the di...

Child Custody

“So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:48-49‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/114/luk.2.48-49.nkjv The custody of a child in broken homes is always a messy circumstance and mostly a nightmare experience for the upbringing of useful children in the society. However, healthy homes sometimes are not completely exempted from the challenges of custody in a parent-children relationship. While the 3-day frustrating experience of the Boy Jesus’ parents during the search for the missing child in Jerusalem does not encourage disobedience and a lack of submission from children to the authority of parents, it does open the hearts of parents to the need to allow a possible interference of the Heavenly Father while exercising the parents’ right to child custody. Instead o...
