Fear Factor

This explains the reason why confidence and competence are almost used interchangeably as a measure of excellent performance. However, the highway of holiness prefers an humble acknowledgement of personal limitations in every relationship, especially with God. The fear of God opens the door to His mercy. To those who perpetually fear the Lord, God is always up to something, even when it feels they are down to nothing. And as long as the Lord reigns, the Psalmist has no restraint to instruct his soul to bless the Lord, even when it appears the ruin overtakes the reign in all personal business and endeavours. The fear factor keeps the precious faith in God alive, even when the fate of His goodness appears merciless.
