Matchless Mercy

  “ But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; Make no tarrying, O my God .” Psalm 40 : 17 KJV The story of Good Friday is simply a wrap of the matchless mercy and love of God. Jesus knew the miserable state of mankind’s depravity and wretchedness, yet He paid the full price for the flow of God’s mercy. Even today, the psalmist’s reflection on “ But I am poor and needy ” is ever potent for those who must approach the cross for forgiveness and salvation. Just like the slayer who runs out of the city of refuge into the hands of the avenger of blood forfeited the avalanche of mercy from the high priest, those who think of matching the mercy of God with their skills and intelligence are pitiable losers. And people who think more of what they must pay to earn the mercy of God are usually prevented from reaping the benefits of grace that have appeared to all men.
