For example, John’s discouragement by his incarceration in prison and eventual death for defending the truth made him doubt the messages he has affirmed by the Holy Spirit about Jesus Christ. Where is God in all of these? Why did God allow this thing to happen to me? Did God really care about my commitment to His service? A lot of people have backslidden and lost their faith or confidence in the Lord because of His supposed omission offence.
