Cleansing Counsel

 “And the waters covered their enemies: There was not one of them left. Then believed they his words; They sang his praise. They soon forgat his works; They waited not for his counsel:” Psalm 106:11-13 KJV

When the psalmist cried out elsewhere “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word (Psalm 119:9), the inspired response situated the indispensability of the counsel of God. The children of Israel failed to consistently take heed thereto according to the cleansing counsel throughout their wilderness experience. Unfortunately, the challenges with taking heed to the cleansing counsel is made worse by today’s technology advancement, social media networks, and improved access to artificial intelligence. Nowadays, when we don’t even need to ask Siri, Google, Bixby, etc before the downloads of interrupting counsels, how would anyone want to wait for the cleansing counsel? It is important to note that God wants His children to constantly wait on Him for guidance and counselling; and never to start leaning on their own personal understanding on any matter. Therefore, only the meek of heart will God guide with His cleansing counsel; they know that it is the only guarantor for safety from the corrupting counsels in our world.

Righteous Resolution

  “ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.” Psalm 1 : 1 - 2 , 6 KJV The problem with the concept of New Year resolutions is that the resolutions are results focussed, including new walkout goals, new diet habits, new relationship models for family, social, and workplace partners, etc. We know that these results resolutions are hard to keep and maintain with the best of human strategies.
