Timeless Triumph
“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:5-6 KJV
Since the major characteristic of worldly wisdom is the pursuit of graceless triumph, the demands of our fast-paced world, career breakthrough, administrative excellence, and political sagacity are common knowledge to the people. It is almost normal for all to believe that success is synonymous to sinfulness. But then the apostolic admonition “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time“ suggests otherwise. Knowing that those that are without are generally graceless, believers are admonished to walk in graceful (not graceless) wisdom while engaging them during unavoidable relationships and transactions. Sometimes, them that are within believers’ spaces in family relationships, business partnerships, and social transactions are readily influenced or manipulated by them that are without. Therefore, believers need unfiltered access to the throne of grace to walk consistently with the (1) word of God, and not the wiles of the wicked; (2) inspiration of God, and not the intelligence of the world; (3) submission to God, and not sensitivity to sensuality; (4) discerning of the Spirit of God, and not dangerous suspicion; (5) obedience to God, and not obstinacy; and (6) meekness of heart, and not mindless hostility. Even in apparent defeat, delay, and denials, walking in graceful wisdom while engaging with the system of this world guarantees timeless triumph.
