Righteous Robots
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” Philippians 2:13-15 KJV
In the absence of invasion from malicious agents, robots are designed to carry out tasks as programmed. Likewise as creatures of the living God and even as free moral agents, we are programmed by God for holiness and righteousness. Yes, we have all been hacked and corrupted by sin; but the redeemed children of God have the chance to reconciliation as righteous robots with all responses to Gods redemption plan. And to the Philippians, Apostle Paul had to remind believers of their status as righteous robots: “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure”. There is something deep in our acknowledgment of the power of grace behind every believer’s acts of holiness and righteousness that demands serious attention. When we give attention to the workings of conspirators and corrupters of righteousness at home, workplaces and the society at large, we tend to fear and fickle at the frivolities of sinful men. Whereas, we should always acknowledge that “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure”; and not that can be righteous by our own power. Therefore, there is fear of failure and falling in those who strongly believe that they are righteous robots in the hands of the Almighty God.
