Shining Star
“Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: Look down from heaven, And behold, and visit this vine; Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, Cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.” Psalm 80:14, 19 KJV
It is a pity that shining star can sometimes reflect the shadow of itself when it turns away from the source of its radiance. When the heart of man focuses on the shadow of his brilliance, intelligence, and skills as the primary source of breakthrough and accomplishment in life, it loses the radiance of righteousness by the grace of God. For example, Jehu was a shining star and important instrument used by God to accomplish the destruction of Baal worship in Israel, and the execution of the royal seeds in the lineage of Ahab according to the prophecy by Elijah the prophet. However, the scriptures has it that “But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin (2 Kings 10:31)”; and Jehu lost the radiance of God through this act of unrighteousness. Therefore, the shining star is the vine redeemed and planted by God and preserved for the reflection of His righteousness. Whenever our show of relevance is limited to the praise of life’s personal achievements and accomplishments, it is simply the time to cry out like the psalmist “Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, Cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.”
