Faith Freight
“But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:31-32 KJV
The pursuit of comfort, care and life’s basic needs is a freight with heavy toll for anyone in this world; and the key to operating the freight can either be fear or faith. Fear when we consider the freight under the control of the world’s super powers; and faith when we believe in the promises of God. When Jesus addressed the concerned listeners to his sermon on the mount with the option of taking the faith freight “But rather seek ye the kingdom of God“, He didn’t totally undermine the negative influence of the fear freight. His acknowledgment of the power of those who can kill the body but have no more thereafter to do underscores the cause of fear, worry, and anxiety in our world. By His “But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him (Luke 12:5)”, the fear freight is turned around with focus on the omnipotency of God….simply renamed as faith freight. When believers seek the kingdom of God in their everyday pursuit of relevance in their career, breakthrough in business, success in examinations, etc, they will be able to see wickedness and unrighteousness as express disqualifiers from the kingdom. For example, Joseph was able to escape the trap into fornication because he saw it as wickedness against God, and not an opportunity for pleasure and favour from Potiphar’s wife. And by faith freight, he got the Father’s good pleasure and elevation to the office of the Prime Minister of Egypt. Likewise, if we can seek the kingdom of God in all our endeavours in life and engagement with people, we are bound to get to God’s promised land of prosperity here on earth and peace in eternity.
