Clear Conscience
“Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!”” Ezekiel 18:31-32 NKJV
If a corrupt conscience is possible by commission, a clear conscience should be possible also by commission. “…and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit” is a commission assisted by the Holy Spirit, through faith in the finished work of grace. This is the reason why no one is arraigned before God on the basis of commission of sin. God’s plan of redemption was initiated and concluded even before almost all of us have the.knowledge of sin. Therefore, “For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies” suggests the fact that life’s inability to access a clear conscience is only possible by omission, NOT commission. Those who failed and faltered at the throne of mercy merely failed and faltered at the altar where confession of sin is possible. Just confess to get a new heart and a new spirit; for it is the Father’s pleasure for everyone to walk freely with clear conscience.
