Spirit Sprinting

And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”  Galatians 5:24-26 NKJV

When the scriptures say bodily exercise profits a little, the referenced profit underscore the preference of sprinting over standing. Sprinting engages aerobic or cardiovascular movement of the body towards the use of oxygen to meet the energy demands for metabolism. It shows why perpetual standing without the recommended dosage of sprinting often leads to health challenges and sometimes death. Likewise, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” admonishes the preference of spirit sprinting over spirit standing. Those who merely live in the spirit have the form of godliness, the charisma or profession of Christianity, and the association with Christians; but they lack the character and love—manifesting fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). When we merely engage in standing without sprinting on a walkout bench, anyone looking at a one time flash of the exposure cannot confirm the absence of aerobic or cardiovascular exercise. Just like everyone knows that the desires and passions of the flesh is to become conceited with sprinting, we all need grace to walk daily in the spirit and not merely get deceived by any form of living in the spirit.
