Harmless Hope

“…the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power” Ephesians 1:18-19 NKJV

Apostle Paul’s prayer for the Ephesian believers is apt for all-time saints. From time immemorial, the experiences of the righteous children of God in the hands of the wicked have often triggered fear and anxiety arising from the ever-advancing evolution of wickedness and unrighteousness. For example, prophet Isaiah was used to extend the harmless hope from God to the saints when the scriptures declared “In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you. Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake (Isaiah 54:14-15)”. Unfortunately, many believers today are readily crippled by this fear and anxiety that their glorious inheritance and the exceeding greatness of power in Christ Jesus are traded on the altar of convenience and comfort. Whereas, in Christ alone and in His righteousness, no height of the wicked’s high-handedness can vacate the harmless hope of the true children of God that is securely hidden in Christ Jesus.
