Faithful Fathers
“That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children, That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments; And may not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not set its heart aright, And whose spirit was not faithful to God.” Psalms 78:6-8 NKJV
It is often said that true success in life and ministry is not measured by the metrics of a leader’s present performances, but by the treatment of the mantle left behind to others. And in our era of social media and advances in the digital age, the burden in this definition of true success for father-Christmas fathers is astronomical. Unlike in the old days of stubborn and rebellious fathers, the burden of godly parenting, Christian discipleship, and professional mentorship are now compounded by three-dimensional space distractions, disobedience by children, disciples, and mentees, and societal disillusionment. Notwithstanding, the heart cry for faithful fathers with courage to stand with the Lord is louder than ever before. Faithful fathers, like apostle Paul in the courageous training of Timothy, are committed to their call and commission into a good fight of faith, through consistent warfare in prayer and devotion to the dividing of the words of truth. Even in the midst of social oppression and media intimidation, “That they may arise and declare the way, the truth, and the life to their children, That their generation may set their hope in God” remains the never-dying mission of faithful fathers.
