Sign Seeking

But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.” And He left them, and getting into the boat again, departed to the other side.” Mark 8:12-13 NKJV

Jesus sighed deeply in His spirit in response to the Pharisees’ dispute over outstanding manifestations of the work of faith; and He would probably do more than sigh today over many people’s fact-finding disposition to the move of God in their lives and circumstances. Unfortunately, believers today do not see their signs because of their lack of faith in God, coupled with their absolute disdain for scriptural and convincing revelations of His will. Whereas, what the Lord requires from everyone is just a little faith, without which it is absolutely impossible to please God. With just a little faith to seek the Saviour, rather than seeking a sign, we stand the chance to see the wonders of God in our lives, family, work, and ministry. For example, Moses sought the Lord by faith with the task to design and build a highly sophisticated tabernacle without engineering and project management training and skills; and the Lord responded “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship (Exodus 31:2-5)”. Even today, what the Lord requires from all His sign seeking children is the absolute faith in Him to get started and finish all that their obedience to His revealed will demand; lest they get a sigh showing Saviour who walks away from them to the other side.
