Unequal Understanding

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understandingProverbs 3:5 NKJV

The reasons why trust in artificial intelligence (AI) is growing greater than confidence in human beings are not far-fetched. Even in a brotherly family and among brethren in the household of faith, people can hardly go to bed with their eyes closed on trust. Unfortunately, advances in AI-driven technologies, machine learning, and service robots have not also vacated the growing concerns over insecurity in cyberspace, social manipulations, and autonomous weapons through the breach of AI algorithms, etc. The truth remains that while God ordained advances in knowledge, science, and intelligence, absolute trust in God cannot be substituted by trust in either man or machines. When believers absolutely trust in God in their relationship with man and machines, they become a blessing to the system by leaning on the understanding of God about the system. For example, instead of relying on AI-driven (data) assessment of Joseph, Jacob leaned on the inspiration of God to extend the right hand of blessing on the younger Ephraim rather than the older Manasseh, while responding “I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations” (Genesis 48:19). Irrespective of supposedly good intentions, absolute trust in God is unequally greater than human understanding; and leaning on our own understanding about any system or relationship in life do readily make anyone a problem rather than a solution.
