Perfect Portion

 ”O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.“ Psalms‬ ‭16‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The experience of Job with suffering shows that life’s inheritance cannot be sustained by earthly possessions and human relationships. Those who kept earthly inheritance on the front burner of their purpose for living have always lost out at the end. Whereas, it is amazing that while Job lost all his earthly inheritance, he kept his integrity and uprightness with God. This is because he found a perfect portion in his relationship with God. However, the scripture accounts that this perfect portion only comes with gracious endurance and perseverance: ”Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful” (James‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬). While earthly properties can be confiscated; earthly relationships can be compromised; and earthly possessions or positions can be contaminated; but none of these destructive agents have a reasonable hold on a perfect portion in the heart of a true believer.

Best Bride

Honourable Honesty

  “ Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand, To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishments on the peoples; To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute on them the written judgment— This honor have all His saints. Praise the Lord! ” Psalms 149 : 5 - 9 NKJV In seasons of afflictions and persecution from a culture of dishonesty, “ Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds ” appears distasteful.
