Compassionate Concerns

“But He answered and said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to Him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?”” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭6:37‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/mrk.6.37.nkjv
The miracle of Jesus feeding Five Thousands men with five loaves of bread and two fishes teaches that little is much when God is in it. Actually without Jesus, ‘something’ would have been ‘nothing’. And this is always the concern of those who look within themselves as the sole suppliers of the necessity in life. While struggling to meet the insatiable needs of self and their dependants, it is always difficult to see the needs of others. At best and like the concerned disciples, the most dispassionate response is always “Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat”. Whereas, ‘something’ with Jesus doesn’t cost what Is not available; and may simply be the ears to listen, knees to intercede, time to invest, and of course the widow’s mite to contribute, etc. On the other hands, hands full of substance without the heart of compassion can hardly amount to anything in the lives of people. Therefore, we all need the compassionate touch of Jesus in order to see the ‘something’ within that is always available for blessing the lives of others without.
