Pleasant Praise
“But I will deliver you in that day,” says the LORD, “and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the LORD.’ ””
Jeremiah 39:17-18 NKJV

Everyone knows that genuine praise cannot be measured in life’s pleasant moments. Whereas, jungle praises are normal occurrence in times of great challenges. When the king and the princes were apparently perplexed, the servants and the poor people of the land must be in dilemma of the right allegiance path. However, Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian palace servant had trusted in the Lord, even when the heart of his Master, the king, failed him due to the fear of the Jews and the ravaging Chaldeans. It was a comely praise of the invisible King of Kings within the visible presence of fear. When life’s position, property and prosperity are threatened, it is always difficult to stand with the invisible God. Nevertheless, the scripture admonishes and Ebed-Melech’s life experience teaches ‘Trust in the Lord; and do not lean on your own understanding’. Then, the reward for pleasant praise will always be “...your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the LORD.
