Fruitful Friendship

 “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:1-2 KJV

Friendship and relationships in today’s social media days are built on cash and carry mentality. Little wonder why marriages don’t last….because there is little or no commitment to love by identity. The moment relationships are summed up as “there’s nothing in it for me to grab”, the ‘irreconcilable differences’ clause is triggered in all fruitless friendships. Whereas, friendship with Jesus is built on our identity with Him. “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name“. Nobody who has ever established a relationship with God is ever just a number. Therefore, a fruitful friendship should be focussed on reciprocating the love of God with the knowledge of His identity. When He said “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee”, believers can always take His offer of fruitful friendship to the bank, especially in their seasons of dryness and difficulties. Unfortunately, many believers in fruitless friendship today do readily murmur and complain about their pain along the passages through the waters, rivers, and fire at the expense of enjoying the fruitful friendship with Jesus.

Righteous Resolution

  “ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.” Psalm 1 : 1 - 2 , 6 KJV The problem with the concept of New Year resolutions is that the resolutions are results focussed, including new walkout goals, new diet habits, new relationship models for family, social, and workplace partners, etc. We know that these results resolutions are hard to keep and maintain with the best of human strategies.
