Wilted Works

 “Let thy work appear unto thy servants, And thy glory unto their children. And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: And establish thou the work of our hands upon us; Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.” Psalm 90:16-17 KJV

The prayer of Moses on the application of wisdom to human engagements on earth is apt. Life’s engagements sometimes can grow weary and wilted because of their lack of commensurate fruitfulness. After all, Ken Costa had rightly quoted in his book “God at Work” that “If Christian faith is not relevant in the workplace, it is not relevant at all”. Unfortunately, the perception of most people to relevance is often limited to paycheque rise, accumulation of administrative and political positions or privileges, albeit at the expense of righteousness. Without the appearance of the influence of God’s grace in believers’ mode of engagement, like the use of HOLINESS (i.e., humility, obedience, love, integrity, new nature, endurance, surrendering, and submission), all the leftovers are simply wilted works that attract no heavenly rewards. Therefore, beyond the exigencies behind the rat races, let grace glow in our races; and all the wilted works shall be turned into winsome works for the glory of the Lord.

Righteous Resolution

  “ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.” Psalm 1 : 1 - 2 , 6 KJV The problem with the concept of New Year resolutions is that the resolutions are results focussed, including new walkout goals, new diet habits, new relationship models for family, social, and workplace partners, etc. We know that these results resolutions are hard to keep and maintain with the best of human strategies.
