Wise Way
“Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: And whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.” Proverbs 16:19-20 KJV
Without the enabling grace to discern that the opposite of wisdom is pride, seemingly righteous people will lose good relationships to their inability to absolutely trust God to handle the challenges of life more affectionately. Meanwhile, the overtly proud and arrogant people do not believe in God. They pride their achievements and accomplishments in life on their personal efforts and ingenuity. Unfortunately, even the religious people or fools also indirectly say there is no God by their forced struggle for relevance and recognition with the overtly proud and arrogant people. Whenever we lean simply on our own understanding of ‘how things happen?’, ‘why do people act in the way they do?’, and ‘what do we need to do in response to the challenges of life?’, we will be tempted to take the wrong approach against the counsel of God. And the best and wise way is mostly slow and frustratingly unappealing, until the heart is made to wait patiently on God. But the moment God speaks, recovery is guaranteed, and a righteous relationship is restored. Therefore, the wise way is the waiting way with absolute trust in God’s timing, method, and guidance; it is equally the only way to certainly win back those who have missed the path of peace with God.
