Almighty Alone
“And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth. Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.” 2 Kings 19:15, 19 KJV
The threat from king Sennacherib of Assyria is synonymous to everyday life’s overwhelming challenges and confusion. They are intended for captivating the minds and focus of believers and unbelievers alike, demanding their worship with fear, frustration, and fault-finding. When the minds are dominated by the activities of these agents, their authorities and relevance are promoted at fhe expense of recognizing the omnipotence of God. Whereas, king Hezekiah chose the recognition of the presence of the Lord with prayer and intercession. Suddenly, prayers enabled the disappearance of king Sennacherib and all his threats, and advances the omnipotence of the Almighty God. Likewise, when faith discovers the ‘Almighty Alone’ in the secret place of prayer, all actions and inaction of our world for and against the counsels of God are presented that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only. Obviously, no one needs plead aloof with the lords, if he can earnestly pray before the LORD. God is God alone, and believers’ mountains of challenges are nothing but the proclaimers of the ‘Almighty Alone’ in God, when we dare to tarry in His presence.
