Sure Stardom
“And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.” 1 Kings 11:38 KJV
The stardom of Jeroboam was both prophetic and prevailing, in spite of all attempts by king Solomon and Rehoboam to subvert it. If only believers can rest on the confidence that only stardom announcement from the Lord can withstand all intimidation from the enemies of righteousness, they wouldn’t fall for the likes of distraction that befell Jeroboam. The promise “that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee” is always conditional upon every believer’s keeping the statutes and commandments of the Lord. Unfortunately, stardom often intoxicates the heads, and keeps steadfastness out of the hearts. This is the reason why many people can readily do well with poverty, but will misbehave with wealth; stay committed and consecrated with barrenness or singleness, but become arrogant with fruitfulness; remain loyal with a low-profile position, but become insubordinate with promotions. Whereas, the sure stardom in life is actually built on every believer’s intimacy with the Lord and consistency in obeying His commandments; and not anchored on the attainment of a coveted position, prosperity and prominence.
