Unfortunately, the children of Israel disrespected the holy name of the Lord through their disobedience and idolatry. Even today, the provided grace through the crucifixion of Christ is more than enough to keep believers totally free from sins. The love of the Lord and His sacrifice would make the vilest of sinners totally free from any entanglement of sin. Troubled times reveal the true foundation of everyone’s source of confidence and trust. This, I strongly believe, is one of the reasons God allows troubled times in every believer’s life. Like the personal experience of the psalmist, those who truly trust in God get the opportunity to exercise their faith, seek God’s face more often rather than depending on fellow man with conflict of interests, and receive reliable instruction during fellowship with God. And our abilities to recognize the different strata of human strength create the necessary culture of respect, loyalty, and decorum in the constituted system, institution, and authority. Invariably, every sane person is wary of the superiority of the system strength, compared to personal strength, no matter the perceived strata. Just as the law of leprosy in the Old Testament, the person, the house, clothing, and all embodiments of a leprous lifestyle must be brought to the priest for examination before a possible cleansing can be initiated.
