Spiritual Strength

“Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”” I Samuel‬ ‭30‬:‭6‬, ‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Unlike spiritual strength, there is a limit to human leverage and the celebration of physical strength in life. Since the last celebration of Goliath’s defeat by David was echoed with “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands” by the excited women in Israel, David had faced the consequences with attacks, betrayals, rejections, and devastation. And with those who chose to identify with David through this wilderness experience, these consequences have been manageable…until these loyal men spoke of stoning David at the height of another display of physical strength. Obviously, the days of adversity often distinguished men from boys. Unfortunately, those who readily depend on physical strength, like Saul, have always ended up tragically, committing suicide and great disappointment at these crossroads. “But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God”. Like David experienced, the secret place of the Most High has always been the recovery room for the battered and greatly distressed. And everyone who falls back from the tracks to leverage on the strength from the Lord has always recovered back the lost physical strength, opportunities, and privileges.
