Unusual Understanding
“‘Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.”
Jeremiah 32:17 NKJV

The knowledge of science and engineering has enabled the understanding of the formation of matters and the prediction of future events from this understanding. With reasonable sense of accuracy, man can predict weather, forecast the reoccurrence of future events from past experiences, and provide desirable corrections to human physiology. And when the logic of human understanding of these events contradict his future expectations, there is a great burden on the understanding from above. Unlike most human, prophet Jeremiah acted by faith in purchasing the deeds of conveyance for a landed property, which was already besieged by Babylon. When the correlation of God’s past mighty works among the people and their miserable invitation to His wrath does favour the endless captivity in Babylon, it does not make sense for Jeremiah to buy the deeds. Unfortunately, it is the same burden of understanding that prevents many followers of the Cross, where planning life on facts is preferred to living by faith. Family planning, career choices, business investments, and project management that are 100% based on usual understanding cannot provide more than ordinary expectations. However, faith says and stays on “God that does what no man has done will do what no man can do” for all who waits on Him. The unusual understanding remains the fact that there is nothing too hard for God.
