Self Service

“In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭ 11:25 ‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/1co.11.25.nkjv Even in the most solemn observance of the Holy Communion Service, self serving option is the undisputed order. And while the Church readily learn from the Apostle’s rebuke of the reported disorderliness in some Corinthians, it is often difficult for many to observe the scriptural distinction between the self serving and the self service admonition. It is important to note that in ‘ This do, as often as you drink it’ , ‘ This do ’ is self service; while ‘ as often as you drink it ’ is self serving. While the ordinance of the Holy Communion service holds in favour of the self serving order, it is the sacrificing of self in self service that we are admonished not to leave out in remembrance of the sacred Lamb of God. And in all of human presentat...

Perilous Period

“Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭ 10:11 ‬ ‭KJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/1/1co.10.11.kjv There is no doubt that advancement in information technology is both the bane and blessing of our times. Information now flies across the globe in a fraction of seconds. While the blessing side speaks of the numerous technological advances, innovation and the development of comfort for human living, the bane side is the promotion of evil, wickedness, immortality, and the destruction of lives and properties. Unfortunately, while evil people and agents of darkness are more aggressive and more proactive in the deployment of these technologies, the people of the kingdom of God appears to be careless, passive and sometimes unconcerned, until the rain of evil starts dropping in their backyards. Whereas, when the scriptures say ‘ all these things happened unto them for ensamples...

Divine Distribution

“But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all the churches.” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭7:17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/1co.7.17.nkjv The passing of fairness on life’s distribution is understandably subjective. When realization from all business, career, and family investments matches expectation, life’s distribution is often adjudged to be fair. Otherwise, someone (and most likely God) is to be blamed for being unfair. While the world system of distribution cannot absolve itself from its doctrine of unfairness, those who are called by God cannot be ultimately shortchanged in their divine distribution. Therefore, when we ask ‘ why ’ to our distribution in life, it is always important to ensure the divine purpose for the distribution is focused. No matter the apparent pain in believer’s moments of loss and disappointment, there is always a good purpose awaiting every gracious embrace. And when we truly choose to wa...

Right Responsibility

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭ 6:19-20 ‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/1co.6.19-20.nkjv One of the most interesting lessons from the parenting class is the fact that children struggle with taking responsibility. Children have no problem with their sense of entitlement and claims to everything provided by parents for their use; but they struggle with taking responsibility for their proper use and maintenance. Unfortunately, when the items develop fault or begin to malfunction due to improper usage, parents are forced to pickup the responsibility. Although the same challenge is illustrated here with the social problem of sexual immorality, everyone struggle with taking the right responsibility when it comes down to the proper use of our body, material and ...

Spirit Supervision

“These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭ 2:13 ‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/1co.2.13.nkjv One of the dangers in spiritual sensitization is the manipulation by human wisdom. Without spiritual discernment, a man of the spirit can be easily manipulated to act against the counsel of God. For instance, a perfect blend of spiritual exercise, knowledge of the scriptures, and human wisdom has often led many mighty men of God into the arena of minions in numerous affairs of life. There is no doubt that the life of a man is entirely wrapped in his surrounding natural phenomena, political manipulation, agitation for career progression, family prosperity, ministerial accomplishments, etc. And since the Devil knows these needs of the mind, manipulating the undiscerned minds in their web of spiritual sensitization is easy. Therefore, Apostle Paul admonished the Co...

Triumphant Testimony

“I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you,” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭1:4-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/1co.1.4-6.nkjv Anyone who has struggled to differentiate between the influence of wisdom or the intelligence of this world and the grace of God in accounting for the testimony of prosperity, promotion, and preservation know how difficult it is to always give thanks to God. But as Paul worked the Corinthian church through the influence of the grace of God alone, he provided the basis for a consistent gratitude to God for all utterance and knowledge. And as evident even in the Corinthian church, the testimony of affluence and relevance in the affairs of this world brings only temporary separation from poverty and weaknesses, especially under the influence of compromises. Whereas, only the grace...

Family Fellowship

“Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me,” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭ 15:30 ‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/114/rom.15.30.nkjv One of the most reliable organ of progress in life, ministry and career is family. Despite the numerous challenges on the field, progress in life’s project can continue when the fellowship of like-minds are secured. However, focus on any life’s project is seriously destroyed when family supports are lost. For Apostle Paul, anyone might wonder what such a powerful prayer warrior needs in the church’s prayer support. Whereas, Paul did not just asked for prayer support, he begged for the much-needed unity and togetherness in the battle against the enemies of the gospel. When the scriptures proclaimed victory when two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus, it merely underscores the weakness of solo run in life. The major problem for failure in life’s project is...
