Peace Promise

“Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Surely You have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, Saying, ‘You shall have peace,’ Whereas the sword reaches to the heart.”...“Your ways and your doings Have procured these things for you. This is your wickedness, Because it is bitter, Because it reaches to your heart.”” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭4:10, 18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/jer.4.10,18.nkjv Unlike men, whose relationships are bound by contractual agreements, God’s promises of peace and preservation are enshrined by His covenant relationship with the people. While changes in the policies of nation or human conditions and circumstances can lead to the cancellation of contracts, God will never break His covenant relationship with the people. However, prophet Jeremiah was disturbed by God’s revelation of Judah’s captivity and future punishment, given that one of God’s promises on the covenant relationship says ‘You shall have peace’. And God was accused of deception until this clarification was provi...

Fallow Field

“For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: “Break up your fallow ground, And do not sow among thorns.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭4:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/jer.4.3.nkjv The law of sowing and reaping is natural and predictable, if the field is fertile and the labourers are responsible and reliable. And when the fields are the souls of men, then the law of sowing and reaping appears complicated and unpredictable...because the field’s degree of freedom advances with the age. However, a responsible and reliable soul-winner has his job and battle for soul well cut-out on a discouraging field. Therefore, the Spirit admonishes “Break up your fallow ground, And do not sow among thorns”. Understanding of the nature of the outreach for souls, whether among the familiar family members or the strange societal men, as fallow ground under the thorny and corrupting influences of the present social world, will boost strength and persistent courage for the labour. Unfortunately, many soul-...

Father's Feed

“Return, O backsliding children,” says the Lord ; “for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding." Jeremiah 3:14‭-‬15 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jer.3.14-15.NKJV If the realm of harlotry was devastating to the reality of the Father's love and affection in the days of Jeremiah, then the rate of fornication and adultery are depressing in these days of social promiscuity. The most unfortunate reality is the grave import of this evil in the hearts of many so-called children of God than the acclaimed acts among the children of the devil. Unlike in the days when the body must walk the heart to the altar of immorality, online surfing has removed the barriers for instant and unlimited feeding of the souls with unholy digests. Notwithstanding, the Father's feed is still within the reach of His faithful sheph...

Trouble Time

“Saying to a tree, ‘You are my father,’ And to a stone, ‘You gave birth to me.’ For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face. But in the time of their trouble They will say, ‘Arise and save us.’ But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves? Let them arise, If they can save you in the time of your trouble; For according to the number of your cities Are your gods, O Judah. “Why will you plead with Me? You all have transgressed against Me,” says the LORD.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭2:27-29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/jer.2.27-29.nkjv In season of treasure, it is easy to live absolutely for pleasure. Everything that appeal to the tastebuds finds approval without possible consideration of heavenly disapproval. Like Judah, we are often caught in the web of abusing our treasure times, treating them as self pleasing time. Unfortunately, a life that is focused on pleasing self - treating taste, pleasure, and affluence as god - cannot find the way to plead with God in trouble ...

Forsaken Fountain

““For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/jer.2.13.nkjv As long as artificial fountains can serve the purposes of architectural beatification and decorations, they are sometimes mistaken as flowing fountains or deliberately minded not as fake fountains. But beyond the fantasy of picture posing and social entertainment, fake fountains do not have capacity to satisfy the soul of man with the needed freshness. Israel is reported to commit these two evils: flowing fountain forsaken and fake fountain flocking. It is important to note that the patronage of fake fountains wouldn’t have constituted any evil if the pursuit of the freshness in the flowing fountain is not a problem. Roaming in the marketplace of life could just be fun, if the marketplace is not turned a bedroom whenever rest is desirable. Challenges of lif...

Intelligent Idolatry

Hear the word of the Lord , O house of Jacob and all the families of the house of Israel. Thus says the Lord : “What injustice have your fathers found in Me, That they have gone far from Me, Have followed idols, And have become idolaters? Jeremiah 2:4‭-‬5 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jer.2.4-5.NKJV The apparent injustice in the gospel message is the free offer of salvation from the Mighty God to His undeserving minions, whose intelligence has been further brightened under the providence of the Creator of heaven and earth. The intelligence of man is wired to grow with advances in the knowledge and the operation of systems. Little wonder why atheism in organized societies and systems sees the concept and the existence of God as foolishness. Man is always tempted to promote his own independence and the ability to figure things out, unless all human efforts are sufficiently explored and significantly exterminated. Whereas, faith in God promotes the foolishness of intelligence in or...

Authorized Agenda

“See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.”....They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the LORD, “to deliver you.”” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1:10, 19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/jer.1.10,19.nkjv Disagreement on what constituted the authorized agenda in any family unit, an organization, and a state is always the beginning of anarchy. Outside the divine interests within the kingdom of God, the Lord recommends an absolute obedience to constituted authorities; and believers are called to recognize these authorities as ordained by God. How then could Jeremiah be set over the nations and kingdoms with kings and princes without a call for anarchy? Yes, Jeremiah is called and anointed to take responsibility for the kingdom of God, rather than contesting governance over the kingdom of men. It is a demonstration of spiritual authority rathe...
