Rewarding Returns
“And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.” Luke 2:15, 20 KJV
Life is made of several trips, with each of these trips demanding a rewarding return, either short-term or long-term. The trip to Bethlehem by the Shepherds to confirm the birth of baby Jesus was one with a difference: “And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them”. Unfortunately, real life experiences of many real people are a compilation of unrewarding expenditures and regretful returns. For example, failed business initiatives, failed marriages, failed relationships, and failed recruitment exercises are just a few out of many real life statements of disappointment that are familiar with real people. Notwithstanding, it is absolutely possible for life to be repackaged with purpose-driven expenditures and rewarding returns. Life is not designed by God like a trial-by-error experiment. Everyone is created with a specific, god-glorifying purpose. The principle of success in life’s expenditures, as revealed in this experience of the shepherds, remains sacrosanct: they embarked on the mission to Bethlehem ‘as it was told unto them’. And anyone who embarked upon any mission, project, partnership, and relationship in life as it was told him by the Lord will doubtless return with amazing and rewarding returns, no matter the challenges encountered on the mission fields.
