Blessed Brokenness

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. He keepeth all his bones: Not one of them is broken.” Psalm 34:18, 20 KJV

Broken hearts and broken bones are not the same. While the psalmist referred to the former as blessed, the latter is cursed and preventable by the righteous. Unfortunately, those who skip the path of blessed brokenness are readily taunted with progress, promotion, and prosperity from the coven of covetousness, greed, and all forms of unrighteousness. And just as the scriptures posited,  it is impossible for anyone to opt for sourness to reap blessedness: “What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? (Ezekiel 18:2)”. Therefore, the only escape route to blessedness in life is the attainment of a broken heart and contrite spirit. Oftentimes, the righteous is reasonably confused about the mission of the challenges of life; and God’s desires for broken hearts and not a delight in broken bones. When we court an intimate relationship with the Lord in our seasons of brokenness, we get to see clearly the blessedness of brutality, betrayals and bitterness in our relationships with the people.
