Holy Hope
“Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, The Lord shall reign forever— Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!” Psalms 146:5, 10 NKJV
Even in the human economy, hope is freaky because its demands are fundamentally unattainable by the ordinary. Most people hope only in the status and not really in the person of the character. Their hope in a celebrity lasts as long as the celebrity gives acceptable performances or lives out their dreams. Likewise, true hope in the Lord is not dependent on the handouts from the throne of grace; it is based on absolute faith in His prominence and providence, even while His promises hang in the balance. Yes, the status and circumstances of most believers’ expectations can change; but God remains unchanged from generations to generations. With holy hope in God, believers are consistently fascinated by the fresh access to the throne of grace for fresh revelation of His purposes and plans; and not necessarily fixated on the performances of their expectations. Therefore, the fresh understanding of God’s purpose and plan for every believer’s existence is the holy hope of the righteous; and that’s sufficiently satisfactory.
