Spiritual Strength

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””

‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The quest for power in the family, workplace, social circles and in state affairs is understandable. With this power comes the willful control of other people’s wish and ambition; and many people have miserably failed to understand the real purpose of being blessed with financial, political, and material powers. Without the provision of an underlying spiritual strength, an overbearing dose of these powers presumably corrupt the heart and soul of the users. Unlike these fake powers, Jesus assured the intimidated disciples with an offer of true power: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you...”.  True power operates through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit; and it does help the users to be a reliable instrument in the hands of God. For example, King Herod misused his political power and he was eaten up by worms. Ananias and Sapphira misappropriated their financial powers and they dropped dead before the Holy Spirit. But through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, many lives have been saved, transformed, and positioned for the expansion of the kingdom of God. If we have all the powers but without an inspiring influence on people, we might be missing out on the true power by the Holy Spirit.
