Hopeful Hearts
““Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV

Happiness is mostly influenced by merriment and feasible improvements in the standard of living. Therefore, the heart is easily deceived to trust in evident display of affluence and material increase. Unfortunately, many, like Judah, have ended up trading their hopeful heritage for parched places through the lens of ‘show me the evidence!’. Whereas, the scriptures say ‘Faith is the substance of things hoped for; and the evidence of things not seen’. It implies that faith in the Lord and His promises does not look for physical evidence. His hope is solely in the Lord and never in ‘bread and butter’ evidence. Although hope in the Lord is never a complete sacrifice of happiness in life, happiness is always a deceptive case for hopeful living. In times of heat and drought, hope knows that his leaf will surely turn green at its rightful season. And who else can prevent the evil of the leaf turning green at the wrong time, beside the Lord who know the end of life from the beginning? Surely, ‘Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD’.
