Finding Favour

Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, And shall obtain favour of the LORD.” Proverbs 8:34-35 KJV

God is not just the supplier of fair favour, He is favour personified. While the different expressions of favour embrace all of life’s desires, including wife, breakthroughs (finance, profession, career, business, etc), and good health, it is always foolhardy for anyone to trade the exact favour for the expression of it. Unfortunately, the heart of man is usually confined to the path of foolishness, unless he is rescued. He would rather prefer the chase of the idols in money, wealth, position, and privileges, instead of pursuing God. Little wonder God admonished Joshua the son of Nun on the principle of success to keep a daily tab on the book of the law, and meditate on its pages every morning and night towards finding favour. This is literally the implication of “Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors”. Even today, finding academic excellence, professional breakthrough, and job promotion is not just about ďoting all the ‘i’s and crossing all the ‘t’s in academic curriculum and the handbook of job description. Those who pursue these things alone must bow down to the idols at the gates of their misunderstanding. Whereas, finding favour is simply the pursuit of God and the revelation of His will through the declaration of His words. “For whoso findeth me findeth life” implies that whosoever finds the purpose of God cannot miss fulfillment in life; and it just makes sense for anyone to seek God first and His favour of life’s fulfillment will follow.
