Good Ground
“But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.” Luke 8:15, 18 KJV
The parable of the Sower and the seeds is focussed neither on the Sower nor on the seeds. On matters relating to productivity and fruitfulness in life, the emphasis is always on the good ground or the shovelled soils. “Take heed therefore how ye hear” admonishes a careful cultivation of the hearts in preparation for the sowing of the seeds by the Sower. Whereas, in the digital age with consistent wayside distractions, hardened rocky depression, and toughened thorny destruction, excuses for not taking heed to all conspiracies against the activities of the Sower have led no one to anywhere good. For example, to maintain a good ground, some of the things we hear or see have to be deliberately unlearned, like defiant and immoral languages, manipulations, manifestations, scenes, etc. Mostly, only shovelled soils produce good ground. As long as the possession of a good ground is taken personal, any honest and good heart will not take personal the deliberate containment and activities of detractors, thorns and rocks that are simply meant for de-containment.
