Pillar Pillow

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.” Exodus 13:21-22 KJV

Expectedly, if the presence of the LORD in the midst of His people is practiced as a pillow, the journey through the wilderness will have attracted great calm and not chaos. The pillar of a cloud would have readily and relaxingly led them through the way in the day; and the pillar of fire will take the shift in the night. But no, the activities of caterpillars are always louder in the ears of the people than the assurances of pillars. Whereas, the essence of pillows is rest and not restiveness. The moment the Lord gives out His words and shows the evidence of His presence in the affairs of His people, there is always no need to ever get agitated by the activities of caterpillars. More often than not, pillars stay calm to stamp out the chaos of caterpillars. For example, before Pharaoh decided to wedge his last stroke of destruction against the advancing children of Israel, the Lord had alerted Moses of His intention to give Himself glory through the future chaos of the caterpillar. Unfortunately, the people of God still went ahead to cry, complain, and compromise the potency of the pillar pillow with them. Surely, if we choose to always take on the armour of God’s words and rest on our pillar as pillow in midst of all challenges of life, we will calmly live to praise the triumphing of God’s presence over the pride of His enemies.
