Clean Counsel

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel By words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; For I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.” Job 38:1-3 KJV

One of the greatest dividends of the promised rest in Christ is His clean counsel. He said “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls (Matthew 11:29)”. It implies that anything outside the clean counsel from Christ is tantamount to darkening the counsel by words without knowledge. It is instructive to note that despite the severity of Job’s calamity, the mismanagement of his circumstances by his miserable friends turned counsellors, and the apparent silence of God in his dark valley, the primary concern of God about Job is his deviation from the clean counsel. Even today, advances in knowledge, new discoveries in the field of science, technology, and humanities have always attempted to provide answers to all things; and believers have often championed the course of deviations from the clean counsel in their home, health, and professional management. We get overtly frustrated when it seems we have no answers to pressing issues and circumstances of life. Whereas, the clean counsel from Christ is sufficient for all the needs and rest of humble hearts; the concerns on what and how about all other matters outside the clean counsel are mere wants and not needs.
